How Youth Sports Can Impact a Young Life for the Positive!

Remember Peter Rodriguez?

Peter is a local insurance broker/agent who was on Kidz “n” Sports a couple months ago promoting a toy drive for the Boys and Girls Club of Whittier.   Peter is doing a lot of good work now including prison ministry, and helping others around him.  But his story wasn’t always so positive.

Tune into Kidz “n” Sports this week to hear Peter’s story and how youth sports helped to change his life around.  Kidz “n” Sports airs every Wednesday at 9 AM on the internet at www.AdrenalineRadio.com.

Calling all coaches! I want to hear from you.

I’m currently writing a book about what it takes to become a successful coach.  One of the chapters will be about having a purpose or motivation to coach.  I would like to get your feedback about what your purpose, your motivation was that led you to be a coach.  Whether it is because you started coaching your own children, or because you loved sports so much, or whatever.  What is your purpose to be a coach?  What keeps you going?

Please click this link to take the survey.  When you’re finished, you will be returned to the Kidz “n” Sports HOME Page.  Thank you for your contribution.

This week my guest on Kidz “n” Sports is Dr. Chris Stankovich, professional athletic counselor who is known as “The Sports Doc” on NBC, and who has also appeared on ESPN. He is a columnist for the OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association). He has over 20 years experience working with many aspects of youth sports and has taught undergraduate courses in sports psychology and sociology.

We will cover a few aspects of youth sports, especially Dr. Stankovich’s article on Early Recruiting that I saw on the Coachbook web site. For more on The Sports Doc, check out his web site by clicking here.

Coach Evans Roderick on Kidz “n” Sports

In case you missed it, here’s the video of the Mt. Sac player who allegedly slugged a referee during a recent game.  Actually the player hit the ref accidentally with his elbow.  No punch or slug like the media suggests in their headlines.  The player has been suspended for five years essentially ending his football career.  But is that the appropriate punishment for this situation?

One of Bernard Schirmer’s coaches, Coach Evans Roderick joins me today on Kidz “n” Sports.  We will compare this situation with others that you may have seen over the last year.  A few are shown later in the video.  Tune in to at 9 AM Pacific time.  Miss the live show, look for the podcast up on Friday at www.kidznsports.com.
